Who is responsible
Whendot is made by Anders Kristensen in Denmark, who is responsible for how your data is handled in Whendot. Whendot is not run by a company at this time. Contact: hello@whendot.app.
The short version
Most of what you keep in Whendot stays on your phone. On the Free plan, all of it does. On Plus and Ultra, some features need an AI service on the internet. When you use them, what that request needs is sent through our server to the AI service. Our server does not keep it. The app has no ads and no tracking tools.
What stays on your phone
- Your plans, tasks, lists, notes and routines
- What Whendot reads from your calendar, reminders and mail
- Your settings
What your plan sends
Free. The assistant and the voice run on your phone. Nothing you keep in the app is sent anywhere. The app asks our server which plan it is on, and it downloads its AI model and voice files from our server.
Plus. When you type or talk to Whendot, your phone turns your speech into words itself. The words are sent to an AI service, together with the parts of your plan the request needs, for example what is on today. When Whendot reads your daily brief aloud, the text is sent to the AI service to make the voice.
Ultra. The same as Plus, and when you talk to Whendot, the sound of your voice is sent to the AI service so it can listen and answer.
Some settings let Plus and Ultra use the AI model on your phone instead.
Which AI services
Currently OpenAI, reached directly or through OpenRouter. Both are outside the EU. We do not have an agreement with them to delete data straight away, so they handle it under their own terms: OpenAI's privacy policy and OpenRouter's privacy policy. Our server passes the data on and does not keep it.
Mail only works on Plus and Ultra, and only if you connect a mailbox. You sign in to Google or Microsoft on your phone, and the sign-in stays on your phone. Our server never has access to your mailbox.
Your phone reads new mail in the folders you turn on. It hides card numbers, bank account numbers and code-like text, and it skips receipts, ads and automatic messages. Only mail that seems to contain a plan is sent to the AI service to find dates and tasks. What it finds shows up as suggestions you accept or dismiss. Folders you have not turned on are never read.
What our server keeps
- A random ID for your install. It is not your name, email or phone number.
- Counters for how much of your plan you have used.
These are stored in the EU. We use them to run the service, to know which plan you are on, and to stop misuse. Like any website, our hosting provider Cloudflare also sees your IP address when the app connects.
Debug logs you choose to send
The app keeps a log on your phone of what the assistant heard, said and wrote. It can include your own words. If you tap "Send to Whendot", the log is sent to our storage at Cloudflare, which is set to Western Europe, and it is deleted after 30 days. Nothing is sent unless you tap. You can also email the log to us from your own mail app instead.
Sharing with a partner
If you share with a partner, the shared items sync through your own Apple iCloud accounts. Our server never gets them. Sharing starts with the shopping list. Items about children or other people are not shared by default.
Backups
Your data lives on your phone, so it is backed up with the phone, through iCloud Backup or a computer, whichever you use. We keep no backup of our own.
Deleting your data
Delete something in the app and it is deleted on your phone. Your phone's backup catches up the next time it runs. Deleting the app removes its data from your phone. To have us delete what our server holds (your install ID, counters, or a log you sent), email hello@whendot.app. Data already sent to an AI service is handled under that service's terms.
Your rights
You can ask us what data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Write to hello@whendot.app. If you are unhappy with how your data is handled, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet), Carl Jacobsens Vej 35, 2500 Valby, www.datatilsynet.dk.
